"silver lining" - Sighhhhhhhhhhhh...... English teacher.....

Though, now I do dream of a hoodie lined with soft, glimmering silvery silk. *Shing*, *shii-iing* oh how it would sneakily catch the light.

I know who it is :)) And I know that you know I know. Which is my way of saying that I'm not sure whether I should post real names...

To conclude, the poem is excellent. It makes me understand the hobby much more than when you first mentioned it to me.

I'm so jealous of the contributions you've had so far, but then I imagine that you do go out and ask for the contribution...

Ahh... And one of the best things about those shows is that they actually let you know that you have recourse, they give you suggestions and encouragement to try to change the raw deal that you´ve got.

I think that´s one of the problems of today, informed about a myriad of things from every different angle but in the end we´re passively taking in information of which we don´t know what to make. With how powerless many people feel in this age, I think there is need for media as information-entertainment- and -activism.

Yeah so the title of your post just registered in my brain, I´m fairly tired right now sorry.

¨Too much information¨ if you just present it as ¨information¨. I do think it´s more of a matter of how you present it. It´s too much for most people if you have to collect this information left, right and centre and build the horrifying picture yourself. What I had in mind with that joke about the TV show, is if there could be a show based on this theme that is done in the style of Fair Go or Target. Where you show how normal and relevant these seemingly abstract or serious matters (consumer affairs, rights etc.) actually are, and where you have real continuity, where you develop this kind of conscience in viewers. People talk about things that they´ve watched in programmes like these the next day... Talk about it one time and it´s sad, it´s scary, it´s horrifying. Talk about it on a regular basis and it starts to matter, and because you start feeling like you understand it you can face it.

Hmmm. No, I don´t think you are you are a grumpy old woman who doesn´t like the modern world. Well... well maybe somewhat, but I don´t think you´re unjustified in your discontent. I think we are living in a horrible, ¨we´re fucked¨ science fiction type reality and simply aren´t aware of it for the most part. Even when we are aware, we don´t like to think about how much we´ve lost and how much we don´t know.

Are people in NZ starting to complain though? To the businesses or to the government? It´s all a big tangled web of economic interests and politics and chickenshitness I know, but everything has to start somewhere... Presumably you learnt about these things through some form of media?

You need a grumpy old woman TV show :)
